2022, Two Weddings and a Puppy!

This year has gone by so fast and it’s been quite the whirlwind so much so that I’m likely to get the annual blog post in with only hours to spare!
The year began with Isaac and Hannah beginning to plan for their wedding in June. Then Matt and Harriet got engaged and 2022 turned into the year of the Laver weddings.
We did squeeze in a quick visit to PEI to see Harriet doing her honours presentation. We had plans to go back for another visit when Harriet graduated but unfortunately I got Covid so we had to watch online instead, which was very sad.

With all the visitors expected over the spring and summer David extended our living space by adding a covered deck to the front of the house. We have also been working on our kitchen.

Josh was Isaac’s lodger, cook, cleaner and dog walker for about 3 years but he was given an eviction notice a month before Isaac’s wedding! With the crazy price of houses this year he decided instead of buying to move in with us again. He says I have to tell you how wonderful it is for us to have home home again!
Isaac and Hannah got married on June 4th in McAdam Railway Station. It was a beautiful day with surprisingly few bugs. Due to the time of year, distance and the fact we had 2 weddings in 2 months, we had fewer family members able to come to this wedding but we were able to livestream it to friends and family worldwide.

On August 1st Matthew and Harriet got married on PEI. Most of our family came over and we spent the weekend before together and some of the family then came back to New Brunswick after the wedding to stay an extra week or so.
They got married in a little church overlooking the sea then had the reception on a friends farm. It was a very fun day.

While Harriet was on honeymoon we celebrated 12 years in Canada. We had to eat the ice cream cake without her and FaceTime her into the traditional photo!

We thought the latter part of the year would be more sedate and restful but that wasn’t the case. We spent time catching up with all the farm projects that had been put on hold and continuing house renovations, work, and church commitments.
We also were planning a trip to the UK to visit family members who couldn’t come across this summer to Canada. Initially we had thought early 2023 would be a good time to visit but we got a better deal travelling just before Christmas. So David and I got back from a quick trip to the UK just in time for Christmas. We managed to visit a small number of friends and hope to see more folks next time we come across.

So this year we have gained a daughter-in-law, son-in-law and in October Josh bought himself a puppy so we also gained another grand dog! Chewie is a Burmese Mountain Dog and he is living up to his name. Good job he’s so cute!

We are looking forward to what 2023 has in store for us.
