Mum and 4 babies doing well!

Harriet's guinea pig Zoe gave birth to 4 very cute babies this evening. Is this the start of her business empire or are we going to be overrun by hundreds of guinea pigs?

Fence building

The good weather is here and the ground is eventually drying out so it's time for erecting a fence. We have approximately 2 acres here which is far too much to fence all at once. Our target this year is to fence about 1/3 of it behind the house so the dog can run free and each pig can have a paddock to run around in. We are putting up an electrified boundary fence and inside this movable fences for the animals. We hired an auger to help digging the fence post holes. Here are some photos and video footage of the 'fun' we had!

Harriet filmed this footage.

David & Isaac had the fun job!

Josh was the foreman!!!!!!!!!

Harriet took this terrible picture of me working out where the next hole should be.

So I took a picture of her looking after the drinks!

After all that hard work we have all the holes dug and 2 posts in. I have a feeling this job may take a little while yet.

Happy Easter...or is it Christmas again?

Easter morning we woke to more snow and it certainly felt much more like Christmas. We eventually got to Church after a long slippery drive then went to The Phillips for Easter brunch followed by the famous Easter egg hunt for all ages. Needless to say we've eaten too much chocolate and are now sitting feeling very full indeed.

When David, Isaac and Harriet went to fetch Mr Pig last week they came home with 6 Australorp day old chicks to add to our animal farm.
David finished his truck cap in time to fetch the pig. Until his papers come through we don't know if he's called Ben or Beppe yet so he's still known as pig or Mr Pig. The shed he is going to live in got  sides and a roof on just before the snow started last night but it still needs finishing touches like a door and fence round.
This photo is so dark because it was taken about 10pm when we were trying to coax him out of the truck where he was very happy.

I was asked how many animals we had by a friend last week and got a bit of a shock when I started counting up! 1 dog+ 5 pigs+ 32 rabbits+18 chickens+6 chicks+7 guinea pigs=69
plus 12 duck eggs hatching in 2 weeks and a pregnant guinea pig due anytime! Life is never dull anyway.
