2021 in a nutshell.

Would it be wrong to just write ditto?

I feel it was very similar to 2020 but 1 year later and with a little less patience for the whole Covid-19 situation.

Christmas 2020 we were expecting Matt and Harriet home for a few days but unfortunately this didn't happen due to the restrictions that were in place then and the requirement for them to isolate coming into NB and going back to PEI. This year they are planning on coming for Christmas again and so far they will be allowed to unless restrictions change and with the current Covid-19 climate anything is possible.

This year we have done more work on the farm house and around the farm itself. It's nowhere near finished but some rooms are beginning to look more homey now and the animals are in their winter quarters.

By June NB was opened up to some parts of Canada so Matt and Harriet could come and visit and by September we opened up to the rest of the world. Mum and Dad were on the earliest possible flight over to see us all which was such a good time after so long only catching up online. They spent most of the month in Canada staying with Rich and Jen then with us. We did squeeze in a short trip to PEI too.

David and I went a on walking holiday with friends in August to Mt Carleton Provincial Park where we walked the 3 peaks of  Mt Sagamook, Mt Head and Mt Carleton. It was quite the walk and we may have felt a number of muscles we never knew we had but it was a lot of fun.

We also went on a family holiday to PEI with Rich & Jen and all our family plus 4 dogs. It was a crazy few days especially as on one of the days we had a massive storm called hurricane Ida which dumped 142mm of rain on us despite all the set backs we had a great time away.

Isaac and Josh both passed their driving tests to drive the fire engines this year and are still very involved as volunteer fire fighters in Harvey. Isaac is still working as a HVAC technician and Josh is a developer. Isaac continues to renovate his house and Josh is his lodger, cook, cleaner and dog sitter!

Harriet is in her final year at UPEI and is set to graduate in spring 2022. She continues to enjoy life living on beautiful PEI. She has taken up pottery and sewing in her spare time and usually has some project on the go.

David has spent the majority of the year working from home which works well most of the time but he does miss seeing his work colleagues except for through a screen all day. The farm keeps him very busy. We still have the pigs, a cow, ducks, turkeys, chickens, lots of barn cats and new this year is a little flock of goats. We also planted a large veggie garden and ended up with hundreds of cabbages and cucumbers amongst other things.

For most of the year I have been able to work from my office. Work has been very busy this year as we've renovated a new office building and moved into it. Had a new campsite built and had to work out how to deliver online programming to schools when we aren't able to physically be there. I have got out my easel and paints again this year and have painted a number of commissions and even had some of my work printed which is quite exciting.

A couple of weeks ago Isaac and his girlfriend Hannah got engaged and are planning to be married in June 2022 so we have an exciting year ahead. Hopefully family and friends will be able to travel to the wedding and it won't be too impacted by the ongoing pandemic.

Hope we can get to see some of you in 2022!
