Bugs!

The bug season is well and truly here. We are busy doing lots of jobs outside this weekend as the weather is glorious but this means we are a tasty treat for all those nasty bugs!
Our vegetable plot is nearly fully planted, we eventually got the lawn mower working so most of our grass is cut  but I suspect it will be a nearly daily job. The chickens are in a new paddock to give their old one time to regrow. The pigs are still loving their field especially the wallowing in their muddy puddle. Rodney the duck is getting huge and to give him exercise we take him for runs round the garden which is very cute.
Harriet has sold 2 of her guinea pigs but still has 3 males left, anyone interested?
This weekend is a long weekend because it's Victoria day tomorrow. Prince Charles and Camilla are coming to visit Gagetown Base which is 40minutes from here tomorrow for the celebrations. Our invite must be lost in the post, I expect they'll just pop in for a cuppa anyway!
I still do the occasional order, this was for a graduation last week.
This male is 1 year old.
These 2 males are 5 weeks old
All 3 are for sale
Only 5 weeks left till the summer holidays, we have my Mum, Dad and Auntie coming the first 2 weeks and David's Mum and Dad coming the last 2 weeks leaving 6 empty weeks in the middle if anyone want's to pop over!

Rodney

Ok so our duck eggs didn't hatch but the lady who gave me them put some in her incubator and only 1 hatched out yesterday. She is no longer keeping ducks so messaged me to see if we wanted him. After work I went and picked up Rodney a very noisy and cute but lonely duckling. He'll have to wait until our new ones arrive then he'll have lots of friends, until then he can have lots of Harriet cuddles!

Big day for the pigs

After weeks and weeks of making a fenced in area for our piggies today it was finally finished. We now have 5 very happy pigs running and running round their paddock.

Spring is definitely  here now so we are beginning to plant out our onions etc, it will be a few more weeks till the other plants will be out as we still have frosts some nights.
Our duck eggs never hatched so we've ordered ducklings and goslings which will arrive in June.

I got a contract at work which started this week so now I'm working a 40 hour week, yippeeee I get statuary days off and holidays. My job will be still looking after young people with special needs, working with elementary school kids, admin and writing a curriculum for a new project.
David also got promotion into a skills set 'B' group in his department which will mean only minor changes for him.

Harriet's baby guinea pigs will be weaned tomorrow and will be up for sale shortly, anyone want one?
