Introducing.....

May has been a month of new things, winter has finally gone the sun is out and we are enjoying 31 degrees today, mind you last weekend we had more rain than we've ever seen before in Canada but even that didn't spoil our church weekend away.

Harriet likes to join the athletics team in the spring and on Wednesday it was the district meet, she ran in the 80m and 800m
Bepe has been on holiday for a couple of months and he arrived back in a bigger trailer than he left in! We think he was fed very well.

After spending hours planting the field with seeds Isaac was getting fed up chasing crows away so he and Harriet made Chuck the scarecrow! This picture was taken before the rain started, as the days of rain went on he got chubbier and saggier and he looks more like ET phone home now!

The chicks we hatched 4 weeks ago are now getting big and will be moved to the barn this weekend as the next lot of eggs have begun hatching.

Our latest addition arrived this morning, he's called Lemmon, in honor of our farm sitters. He is a jersey bull calf and will eat our grass for a long time before being steak.

This weekend is back to fence building and bug dodging. The black flies are well and truly biting at the moment.

We have sold some of our pork and have our first commercial order from a restaurant in town but we still have lots more to sell.

Victoria Day weekend

Victoria Day is on Monday so we have a long weekend which will be good. We have lots of seeds to plant, geese to kill, pigs to move and other exciting chores.

Next weekend is our church away weekend to Greenhill Lake Camp, the kids will stay the whole weekend and David and I will come home to sleep and feed all the animals.

About a month ago there was a local chick hatchery that got ILT and all their birds had to be slaughtered. We were then told that our chickens were in quarantine  for a few weeks, this basically meant us not going to farms with chickens and only wearing our farming clothes on our farm etc. This week the provincial poultry vet gave our chickens the all clear, Harriet is delighted as this means she can go to her best friends house again!

We got the 2 pigs we had slaughtered last week back so our freezer is bursting full of yummy pork. We are selling it either by the full, half or quarter pig or in 20lb family packs or just by the individual packet. Please message me for a price list if you are interested.

The chicks hatched

We had 11 little multi-coloured chicks hatch this week which is a really good ratio as we only put 16 eggs in the incubator.
They are very cute and are currently being looked after by Harriet in the kitchen!
She is already planning the second hatch which gives her an added incentive to clean the incubator!

This is the first chick hatching

He passed!

Isaac took his driving test this week and passed. Yaaahhhh
When we got home Harriet had made him a celebration cake, she told us it was a car with her and Isaac her chauffeur in it. It looked a bit like it had been in a pile up (I think the icing had melted) but tasted really good!!!
