Where has 17 years gone?

Today we say 'Happy 17th Birthday Isaac'.
Where has the time gone to? He arrived 17 days early and weighed 7lb 3oz. He was a laid back little boy with big blue eyes and tonnes of curly blond hair. He's still laid back, he sometimes grows his hair so it gets curly but now he's nearly 6' tall and is always planning his next project which usually means hours outdoors whatever the weather.
He chose to go to Montana's for his birthday lunch which was very yummy indeed.

The weekend before Christmas we went to Ben and Lauren's wedding, a great time was had by all.
We had fun in the photo booth!

We had all our turkeys ordered for Christmas which meant we had to deal with 12 plus ducks and a goose we had orders for too. This was a huge job not helped by the -20 degrees outside making plucking somewhat difficult. We eventually finished them by 11 pm the night before Christmas Eve and after a much needed sleep spent Christmas Eve delivering them all. I have to say quite late on in the evening we thought of  my friend Sandra's dad who without fail delivered our fresh turkey for many Christmases while we lived in Whitby- thanks Mr Gell.

Christmas was a relaxing time for us. Rich & Jen came for tea and stayed over till boxing day, we went to a party at friend's house on boxing day, went to Dianne's games night and a New Year's Eve party and a potluck but apart from that it's been all quiet.

We had 2 huge snow storms over Christmas so we've spent lots of time snow blowing, shoveling, and removing and at least 2 days we've been snowed in with David working from home one and last Sunday church was cancelled.

I won a gift voucher from a local furniture store so we went sales shopping and got Isaac his new bed at last. So now we'll all be comfortable when you come and stay!

Two nights ago around 1 am David heard lots of noise outside and when he investigated found a fox attacking our geese which in the rush to go out that evening we'd all forgotten to lock up. The goose put up an excellent fight and escaped with some wing damage but is at least alive and well. This prompted us to move the geese to an indoors pen where they are much warmer, safer and seem happy. Mr Fox will have to get past 26 chunky piglets to get to the geese now!

The renovations continue with the wall coming down, finishing touches to the pigs shed extension and newly installed animal waters to stop the water freezing. Our wood pile is growing and our junk getting less with a visit to the tip also this week.

A sample of my Christmas projects knitted thrumb mittens and dishcloths

Trying to show some of our snow, what the picture doesn't show is the -31 windchill which makes being outside fun. We attempted skiing and snowshoeing the other day and barely got to the top of the hill it was so cold and windy.

Harriet also knitting, hers is a facecloth. Notice her sporting her new Christmas onesie!

The hole gets bigger, view from the orange lounge.

 View from the kitchen.

The cake we are about to eat lots of.

We are back to work on Monday and the kids go back to school on Weds. No more holidays now till March break when we're driving over to see David and Sarah for the week.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year. Wishing we could have seen you in 2012 but who knows what 2013 will bring, book your visit now we have about 51 spare weeks we could squeeze you in!
p.s. my Dad just skyped and wishes everyone a Happy New Year too!
