School's out for summer!!!!

Harriet's award

Max 10 weeks

Davids Fathers day present

Back to basics in Harriets new bedroom!

Tomorrow is the last day of school before the summer vacation starts!

Isaac actually finished last week after his exams but has to go in for his results in the morning.

Harriet graduated from Elementary school today and had a leavers assembly which we were invited to. Each pupil walked down the isle to Charriots of Fire theme tune and teachers read out memories of their time at Harvey Elementary. The children sang a couple of songs then the highlight was an award called the Beth McAlpine which is voted for by the students for the class member who is friendly and has a positive attitude to learning which Harriet won.

Max is getting bigger and is into lots of mischief but he's full of fun and has a lovely disposition.

Happy Fathers day for last Sunday to our dads. We didn't get chance to post cards as there is a postal strike on in Canada and we haven't had any post for a couple of weeks now. Harriet wanted to give David something different for Fathers day so bought him the latest addition to our small holding 11 Rhode Island Red day old chicks. They are very cute and seem to be doing well, hopefully in a few months we'll have a good lot of layers.

David started the little job of moving a wall to create a room each for Harriet and Josh. This is turning into a bigger job than expected with the room needing to be insulated, water proofed and some joists needing to be added to support a new floor as the old one was rotten! Life never changes wherever we are!!!!!!

I'm glad to say the bugs are about gone and the sun has come out so summer is finally here. Isaac and I have planted a veggie garden which we've put everything we had in for this summer and we will dig more plots for next year and get organised with crop rotation and the such like. I also got a worm composter on freecycle today so I can start good old composting again!

We moved in on Tuesday after a frustrating day waiting we were allowed to get in at 4.30pm. We kept moving stuff across (and are still doing it now) and eventually slept here on Thursday.
Anyone wanting our new contact details should email me at suz@thelavers.com. When David finishes moving the wall he's knocked down we'll have room for visitors to stay, so come and see us.

The welcome we had to our new home

Well it didn't take us long to miss having a dog. We have been looking for a puppy for a while and this week found our perfect addition to our family Max. He's an 8 week old Border Collie/ Shar pei cross. We surprised the kids by David going and picking him up on Saturday and bringing him home. He is very cute, laid back, fun and will grow quite big.
