Spring at last!

Spring has finally arrived and we are now enjoying 20+ degrees for the next few days. It still gets frosty at night time. This means it's spring clean time. Outside is a big mess, it all looks lovely and white in the snow then when it melts you actually find all sorts you didn't know were lost or all the bark and sawdust from chopping wood all winter! Isaac has been having bonfires and we need a visit or two to the tip. It is certainly easier feeding animals now without having to break the ice or blow the snow to get to them.

We have some eggs in our incubator which are due to hatch next weekend if all is well, the fluctuating temperatures outside may mean they won't hatch. We have been digging holes for our next bit of fencing so we can move the pigs over to have a new field and then we can plant vegetables in the field they are in for food next winter.

The first couple of piglets from last September's litters should be ready for slaughter this week. The meat should be ready next week if anyone wants to order any!

A few months ago I got a call asking me to collect money for the Canadian Cancer Society along a short section of my road during the month of April. I figured it was for a good cause and I could get to know some neighbors too. I started off fairly well but found I only got a couple of houses done each night because I talked too much!

When I moved to Canada I wanted to have a go at curling. As yet I haven't managed to actually get on the ice but a couple of weeks ago the world curling championships were held in Fredericton so I bought tickets for me and Harriet! I loved it, the tactics fascinate me and it's made me more determined to actually visit Harvey curling club next winter.

The men in the harlequin trousers are the English team I was cheering for, the rest of the teams wore black trousers so they definitely stood out!

We are planning to borrow a tiller this week as soon as the ground has dried out enough so we can get some of the early seeds in.
